A note
from Sadie Lune about the last two events in Feb.:
This February I will be starting a Bimonthly meeting for Partners of Sex
Workers where partners can talk freely and find support about the specific
joys and issues they face in their intimate relationships with this unique
group of workers. To kick off the meetings I will be facilitating a workshop,
open to all, which will present a summary of some of the issues common
to intimate personal relationships involving sex workers. I hope to begin
a discourse and open communication about these personal relationships,
as well as give a voice to partners of sex workers with varying levels
of acceptance and appreciation for their loved ones' work. While we are
lucky in the Bay Area to have access to a wide range of resources and
community building arenas for workers in the sex industry, partners often
have nowhere to go to ask questions, air concerns or get support from
others who can relate to their situations.
I am looking
for speakers. If you are or have been a personal partner to a sex worker
and would like to share your experiences and thoughts please contact me.
The workshop will be informal, no one needs to write a formal presentation.
Some of the topics that will be discussed are listed below. I am hoping
to get partners of workers from a variety of fields within the sex industry
who have gone through different experiences. If you know, or are someone
that would be interested in helping with this workshop, please email me
at sadielune@gmail.com
with 'partners' in the subject heading.
All of
the logistical information about the workshop and the Partners Meeting
is below.
Thanks so much, and please feel free to post this or pass it along to
any lists or people you think might be interested.

to the most intimate and unusual of scenes. A driving force behind the
emeergence of the Modern Primitives movement (Gatewood has sensitively
and gleefully documented everything folks can do with and to their bodies),
he also catches intense energy and personality in his subjects. View Gatewood's

*Working
with Intimacy:
Sex Workers are often one of the secret emotional supports of a community,
providing pleasure, intimacy, relaxation, understanding, affection, eroticism,
human connection, touch, tolerance, confidence, excitement and fun for
a diverse populace. In a time when our society affords few outlets for
these needs, sex workers can and do a lot to sustain happy healthy people.
But what about the needs and fears of those who excite, accept, love and
emotionally support sex worker: their companions, lovers and partners?
This is a
workshop/discussion about the joys and challenges of personal intimate
relationships with Sex Workers. The workshop will include a brief summary
of some of the issues in relationships that are often complicated when
one or more partners works in the sex industry. An informal panel of Partners
of Sex Workers will share their feelings and experiences on topics such
as:
*jealousy
*sex life
*safer sex
*legal issues
*money
*acceptance-shame-pride
*secrets
....more.....
Followed
by question/answer and group discussion. The intent of this workshop is
to begin a discussion and open communication about these special personal
relationships, as well, to give a voice to partners of sex workers . While
we are lucky in the Bay Area to have access to a wide range of resources
and community building arenas for workers in the sex industry, partners
often have nowhere to go to ask questions, air concerns or get support
from others who can relate to their situations. This workshop will precede
the beginning of a bi-monthly meeting for partners of sex workers only
to speak and share about their relationships.
